James Balog Lecture

What really interested me about his speech was that he did not try and conceal anything pertaining to breaking into our career fields. He really layed it on the line about the difficulty of doing so, and the expectations we may have about it. It was also insightful to listen to his perspective which way he believes the industry is headed (i.e. more digitized, and the debate between ownership of an artists own work when dealing with major corporations).
 
The business side to the art field is becoming larger and larger, especially if us as designers, photographers, and artist still want to keep whatever creative freedom in the work that we do. The only way to do so, as James Balog has done, is to open up our own company. Even though that decision possesses its own set of rules when it comes to doing one's own creative work. It all comes down to balance.
